Southwest Lacrosse Association - Club Division

The SWLA has undergone significant expansion over the last couple of years and is excited to offer players of all levels the opportunity to play post-collegiate lacrosse in the state of Texas. This season the SWLA will support two leagues comprised of 10 teams. The SWLA Division I league offers advanced competition and is packed full of great college club players as well as many NCAA DI, DII & DIII players. The SWLA Division II league offers less experienced players and older players who still enjoy playing competitive lacrosse significant playing time.

If you have any questions, are interested in starting a new lacrosse club, or have an existing team that wishes to join the SWLA, please contact Rick Foerster, SWLA President.

The DLC is the premier post-collegiate lacrosse team in the state of Texas. The DLC is a Dallas-based team that has captured the SWLA Championship 15 times in their illustrious history (including a current run of 4 consecutive titles). The team comprises of mostly post-NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 players that have played at lacrosse colleges such as Cornell, Duke, Princeton, Navy, Hobart and Harvard. Mixed with some native Texas talent, many of the players hail from New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Virginia who have since moved to the Dallas area and now call North Texas "home". The Dallas Lacrosse Club welcomes any individual, regardless of skill level, to play on their team as long as their willing to have a fun time. We compete against intercollegiate and post-collegiate teams throughout Texas. Our league games are played on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Big D

The idea began sometime in the spring of 2004. There was a desire from many of the younger players on the Dallas L.C. to be part of a team that had more than just a "show up, play, and leave" mentality that they felt had pervaded the team. Dallas L.C. had grown too large and unwieldy - reducing the good times and bonding that they felt should be part of a post-collegiate lacrosse club. It was with this idea that Big D Lacrosse Club was created - we were going to be a family on and off the field!
So, in the fall of 2004, with the help of a generous grant from Friends of North Texas Lacrosse , Big D L.C. took the field! The team was composed primarily of former Dallas L.C. players, as well as some of the more talented members of the Coppell L.C.. That nucleus went on to finish second overall in their first two seasons of SWLA play. With the addition of talented out-of-state transplants and increasingly skilled returning Texas collegiate players the future of Big D certainly looks promising!

Coppell Lacrosse Club
(North Dallas DI & Coppell DII)

The Coppell Lacrosse Club or CLC was established in 2000 by Chris Blewitt, Russ Bolling and Chad Herr with the objective of creating a highly competitive team that could compete for the Southwest Lacrosse Association Men’s Club Championship. In April of 2001 CLC’s goal was achieved when they beat the Dallas Lacrosse Club to claim their first SWLA Championship.
In spring 2005, after losing most of the CLC players to a new team in the area, Rick Foerster took on the task of rebuilding the fragmented club. Since then the CLC has been rejeuvenated with the addition of players from college programs, such as John Hopkins, Syracuse, Butler, and North Texas.
This year the CLC will field two men’s teams, which gives players of all backgrounds the opportunity to have significant playing time, while competing against players on a similar playing level. The North Dallas (ND) team will represent the CLC against Division I competiton and is looking forward to competing for the SWLA DI Championship after falling short in last season’s semi-final round. The Coppell team will represent the CLC against Division II competiton and anticipates competing for the SWLA DII Championship this season.

Coppell Lacrosse Club welcomes players from all levels. Please contact Rick Foerster for more information at rickfoerster@yahoo.com or by phone 214-636-9176.
